What Makeup Brushes Should I Buy?

This is the second segiment for our makeup brush special! Last time we talked about is it worth it to buy separate makeup brushes. In this post we will talk about what makeup brushes to buy! You can buy a makeup brush kit or buy specific makeup brushes for specific jobs. Which ever you choose you should go with high quality. First check the bristles by running your hand through it. If they come out easily or feel coarse this is not a good sign. If it feels rough on your hand how will it feel on your face! Natural or synthetics depends on you and the makeup you use. If using liquid and cream foundation, cover-up etc, synthetic is easier to clean and can handle the liquid. If you have sensitive skin synthetics if not high quality could be too rough on your skin. However natural brushes can be very soft and is best for powder cosmetics. Please be aware that if you are sensitive or allergic to animal hair you may be allergic to natural makeup brushes. Also how you like your makeup look depends on the brush! If you like a dramatic deep colors for your makeup look a synthetic is ideal. If you prefer a lighter natural look of course natural makeup brushes are best. But with the amount of brushes out there what do all those makeup brushes do?

Makeup brushes O la la Life

Below are Brushes that are essential, these are the basics depending on your look you may want to invest in others which are shown here If you have a question about a brush post a picture of it on facebook and we will add it to the chart!

Face: Foundation brush, blush/bronzer brush, powder brush

Lips: a good lip brush

Are You Using the Right Brush For You?

There are many tips and tricks in applying makeup what about what we apply our makeup with? This month we will have 3 short segiments on makeup brushes each week; Why buy brushes or not?, Which brushes should I buy? and How to care for your brushes. The big question is whether to spend money on brushes or not since most makeup comes with applicators. Its depends on the look you want and your skin type. Most of the applicators that come with makeup are not the highest quality they may do the job but do they do the job fast, easy and effectiveolalalife makeup brushes

Its best to consider the look you are going for? Certain brushes and applicators will apply products lighter then others, if you feel that your applicators apply makeup to hard or soft then it is best to find the right tool for you! Your skin type is also a factor. If you have sensitive skin you get makeup accordingly, the same with your makeup brushes. Certain applicators may be too rough on your skin or you may be allergic to the hairs on the brush.

The tools you use is up to you. Applicators should make applying makeup easier for you and should be what you feel comfortable with. But can’t it be expensive? Not necessarily. The thing to look for is quality. Look for high quality brushes. If you can find a good high quality brush that works for you for less than go for it! Most may find though that good quality brushes may cost a bit more. Some invest in a few good brushes for general areas such as the whole face, eyeshadow, and blush and use cheaper brushes for small corrections and applications or buy a makeup brush set.Which ever you choose you need to know what brushes are best for what jobs and what brushes to look for? Next week we will talk about Which brushes should you buy?

A New Year! A New You!

Happy new year everyone!

My oh my I cannot believe it’s 2012 already! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and got to spend some great time with their family and friends. My holiday’s seemed like a bit of a whirlwind but they were wonderful all the same!

And because it’s the new year, that often means people set about making new years resolutions! What are some of yours? I’d love to hear! I have a few in mind and that I have been putting in place. One of them is too eat more veggies! And I definitely have been doing that every day! Sometimes we just get so busy and don’t always have time to cook nice dinners, but it’s worth it to take the time. I think I’m going to post this picture on my fridge for some inspiration!

While thinking about the new years resolutions that I was going to make, I also did some research into some of the most interesting resolutions and thought I’d share some with you if you’re having some troubles coming up with your own!

1. Take a picture every day of the year…the 365 project. This would be a great way to capture moments. It would also be great not to look at the pictures until you’ve completed the project and then go back and relive your year!

2. Don’t go shopping until you’ve worn everything in your closet at least once! I know this would be a huge challenge for me, (most of us!) but I also think it would be really interesting! I know I have some great pieces that are hiding at the back of my closet that do need to be given a second shot!

3. Learn something new. This year my plan is to master the art of make-up. I do think I am relatively good at applying, but I’d like to take the time and learn a little bit more. The good thing for me is that I work for a make-up company and they have some wonderful videos, tutorials and an app that will teach me the proper ways to get the looks I want!

4. Spend more quality time with friends and family. This year I really want to make sure that I make the time, even if I feel like I don’t have any. It’s so important to spend time with the people that you love. I’m going to plan more girl’s nights, more dinners and more movie nights as well! (Hopefully my friends will let me practice my new make-up techniques!)

5. Make no resolutions. Some people find the pressure of making resolutions just a bit too much, and find that it actually makes it harder to achieve their goals. If you happen to be one of these people I suggest just trying to live your life the way you want to live it, and do little things each day to help you get to where you want to be.

I hope you have enjoyed a sample of the new year’s resolutions I found. I would love to hear about your new year’s resolutions, so send them my way! And just remember take everything one day at a time! I will definitely let you all know how mine our working out!

The National Women’s Show: O La La!

Hello everyone!

What a fun-filled but busy weekend I had at the National Women’s Show with O La La! We sent up a very pretty and eye-popping booth to showcase all of the wonderful O La La make-up products! We met so many amazing women and were very happy to get the chance to talk to them about O La La Life and O La La Make-up!

I think the best part of it was teaching people about the FLIK! So many people seemed very receptive towards the idea and we definitely sold quite a few!  For those of you who don’t know quite what it is, the FLIK is a little tool that will change your life!

It’s like a little stick with a small razor at the end. It is used for shaping eyebrows to PERFECTION! Using a flicking motion you take away all unwanted hair without the pain of plucking, waxing or threading. Ladies! It’s also a great tool to take away other unwanted facial hair in other areas that we unfortunately sometimes get. I even use it on my boyfriend to keep his eyebrows looking groomed and maintained.

The FLIK is only $14.90 and you can buy it here! For such a small tool and for such a good price it’d be a crime not to get one! And just think…the holidays are coming and it fits perfectly into a stocking!
